As a reader, you will always want to make sure you to have a bookmark on hand or nearby you when you want to hold a place in your book.

The solution is simple and not to mention fun! These paper bookmarks are easy to put together and can be personalized with your favorite craft paper colors or decorations (think stickers & brads!) .

This super quick and easy DIY project is fun because it is something unique that you can make for yourself or others as gifts!

If you are in the middle of a couple of books like me, it is always good to have a couple of these handy, so I seem somewhat organized. You could even use these in a book club or group to give to your reading friends.

I also wanted to mention that these are great as a kid’s craft too! My kids even love making these bookmarks all by themselves (except they will need help with the cutting part) and giving them away to friends.

They really are that simple and who knows, you may get them excited about reading their next book!

You can use scrapbook paper or card stock for these. I recommended the card stock because they will hold up to use a lot better to daily use. And most local craft stores have quite a bit of different paper designs to pick meaning from your bookmark will truly be unique to you.

If you have 10 minutes or less you can make these bookmarks! Look through the supplies you’ll need to get started today.

Easy to Make Paper Bookmark Tutorial

Skill Level: Easy

Materials:

• Card stock
• Brads
• Paper Trimmer
• Stickers

Notes:

• Parental supervision is recommended when children are making these bookmarks.

How to Make a Paper Bookmark

Follow the easy steps below to make a corner paper bookmark in less than 10 minutes!

• Cut a piece of paper (or card stock) into a square of 6 inches by 6 inches

• With the right side facing down, fold your piece of paper in half diagonally into a triangle

• Fold the top layer down to the base of the triangle

• Bring the side points up to the top point so that it makes a diamond

• Tuck the ends of the points you just folded down into the pocket that was made in step 3.

• Place a brad or stickers on top of your bookmark for an extra flare!

That’s it! You are done with your bookmark!

Keep repeating the steps above to make as many as you’d like in a variety of colors!

My Story of Extreme Couponing Clipping

My confessions…

• I have been a coupon queen since 2005.
• I refuse to pay retail for anything if I can help it

It all started when I was visiting a friend of my moms, and she was cutting out what seemed like 100’s of coupon inserts from the newspaper. I honestly thought she was crazy! I was looking at her sitting on the floor surrounded by piles of paper in aww of how she was organizing her coupons in a binder.

Well, as soon as she explained to me how she gets her coupons and matches them up with the deals I was hooked! She handed me coupons for that week’s ad at our local grocery store, told me what to buy and off I went!

I never looked back and haven’t stopped! I have saved us so much money over the years and I honestly think when we had our daughter in 2006 that we would not have been able to make it financially without my coupon obsession.

I have learned so much and hope I can make it easier for anyone who wants to take the plunge into the world of coupons by sharing my coupon organizing tips!

The Best Way How to Organize Coupons

Learn the steps about how to gather coupons and how to put a coupon binder together below.

I have organized coupons many ways over the past decade and will share two of my most recent coupon organizing methods. There is nothing wrong with either one if it works for you then use it!

How to Organize Coupons into Categories

These methods will help you sort, order and organize your grocery coupons easy! Enjoy!

Method 1: Sort by Types of Items

Examples:

• Cold Medicine: every coupon you cut out that has to do with “cold medicine” (doesn’t matter which brand) store them in your coupon organizer together!
• Dog Treats: cut and keep every coupon that has to do with “dog treats” together!!

Method 2: Sort by Areas of a Grocery Store

Examples:

• Freezer Items: Cut coupons and store all the coupon items that would be found in the freezer together in this section together
• Pet: Store anything and everything that has to do with pets in this section!

Categories to Organize Coupons in a Binder

Below you will learn how to categorize coupons in a binder. Use these coupon organizing categories to help you effectively use your coupons and to maximize savings.

Extra Coupon Organizing Tips

• I use 9-pocket trading card pages to store my coupons in my binder. You need strong sleeves because you will be putting coupons in and out of these, and you need them to last!! So please don’t use cheap sleeves!
• I also would use a 2 or 3-inch binder with a zipper, so you can secure any coupons that may fall out.
• If you’d like to start out smaller, use a small expandable coupon organizer that is wallet size until you graduate into a bigger binder.

An easy and cheap way to stay organized is having a schedule of when chores around the house need to be done. If you are following a cleaning routine then you are more likely to be organized on a daily basis.

Plastic Drawer System

Blank Chore List Chart Printable

This chore chart is perfect for anyone! It is intentionally blank so it can be filled in to customize the chores that need done for your household. I have a couple different printables that you may like such as the kid’s morning chore chart printable and more!

There is even a blank space for a name so it is easy to print a few for everyone in your house.

All you will need is a printer, white paper and a PDF reader such as adobe to be able to download the PDF.

Laminate This Chart to Use Again and Again

This chart is so easy to use over and over! Laminate the chore chart once you print it and use a dry erase marker to write chores for each week. Simply erase the old chores when it is time to write new ones.

It is that easy!

I love a couple different laminators but you don’t need any extra fancy.

To make it extra simple use laminating sheets which are found at the dollar store or online at places like Amazon. They are inexpensive and make this a cheap project.

There are also laminating machines that are a great option if you plan to print a lot of different items to laminate. They are quite inexpensive too so that is a positive!

First things first, get rid of trash to start to declutter your home! Go through the room you picked and just start cleaning. Receipts, flyers, school papers, whatever it is you have lying around, throw it away.

You will be amazed by how much more a room will look organized and clean once the excess trash is gone! If you fill one trash bag, that is a great start! You can do it. Promise. I did this same thing in my bathroom and it worked wonders. Check it out.

When you find items that are still in great shape, but you don’t need (which you will) donate them.

Do you want to be sure you are making the right call of getting rid of stuff? Ask yourself these questions.

• Have I used it in the past 6 months?
• If not, do I ever plan on using it?
• Does it hold sentimental value?

If you don’t use it, don’t plan on using it and it holds no value to you then away it goes!

Everything Needs a Space When Organizing

Next, go through your given room and put everything where it needs to go. If it doesn’t have space, then it needs to go or be given one. I find it easiest to stay decluttered and organized when items have a spot where they belong.

To make it simpler pick just 5 items and find a spot for them so it is not overwhelming. You can plan on doing this once a day until you feel like it is finished.

Ask For Help When You Declutter

If you want to declutter your home fast recruit some help and make it a team project! Ask friends, parents, children to make the time go by faster.

Working together is always a good idea to get anything done faster and make it fun in the process.

Since your day begins in your closet, you will want a space that is mess-free, clean and in order. With these simple closet organization ideas & tips below, you will have your space organized and ready for a good day every day!

9 Tips to Organize a Closet

#1. Declutter

The first thing you will want to do is go through your clothes and figure out which ones you do not wear anymore. A good rule of thumb is if you haven’t worn in a year, then it goes in the donate bin. Also, if it doesn’t fit you, then it has to go too! Extra clothes that you don’t wear means more clutter, which is a no-no for an organized closet.

#2. Hang and Store Your clothes With a Purpose.

After you declutter, you are now ready to organize your clothes in your newly redone closet space. If you have space, hang up all your clothes (minus sweaters) in groups. Organize clothing in groups as listed below.

• Dresses
• Long Sleeves
• Short Sleeves
• Tanks
• Jeans / Pants

#3. Fold Your Sweatshirts and Sweaters

Next, fold your sweaters in a neat pile that is not high. I do not recommend hanging sweaters because they will stretch and change shape. If you wish, you can organize them inside fabric baskets or cubbies.

#4. Use Baskets

Use a low basket to store flat shoes, slippers, or flip flops. Baskets will save space and keep your shoes off your bedroom floor. You could even make baskets to use in your closet. I have a post about crocheting baskets if you like DIYing!

#5. Hang Bags and Purses

I use a regular hanger and a fabric dust bag to store my purses to keep them dust-free and organized. A dust bag is just a suggestion ; you do not need this to store your purses. You could easily just hang your purses on the hanger, and it would work just as well.

You could also store your purses or bags on shelves, too, if you prefer.

#6. Use An Over The Door Organizer

Over the door organizers are perfect for hanging up small items that don’t quite have their own space like belts, scarfs, and ties. Check out one that I use and recommend here.

#7. Keep Drawers Tidy and Easy to Use

To keep your drawers tidy, I’d suggest using a drawer organizer. I use ones similar to this one here for my kid’s closets, and they have worked great for the past few years!

If you don’t have drawers in your closet, they work great in dressers too in your bedroom.

#8. Maximum Wall Space

Use wall space in your closet to hang jewelry, belts, or ties or use cubbies to out of season clothes or clothing you don’t use that often.
